Editing Without an Adobe Photoshop Subscription

If you don't own a Photoshop licence, you can still edit every layer in this bundle. PhotoCraft is a free, open-source image editor written in Rust that opens and saves PSD files with 134/135 byte-for-byte fidelity — meaning the layered structure, masks and metadata you save in PhotoCraft will reopen inside Adobe Photoshop exactly as you left them. PhotoCraft runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, and there's also a WebAssembly build you can self-host in any modern browser.

Original Version — Layer Structure

The main file Pre-good-Passport-Canada.psd (2127×3127 px, RGB 8-bit, 55 MB uncompressed) contains five top-level layers:

1. Original — a pixel layer (hidden) holding the scanned reference passport image for layout alignment.
2. Blank — a visible pixel layer serving as the clean editable background.
3. Foto — a group (722×761 px) with three sublayers: asia-man (the placeholder photo), Полосы (Russian for "stripes" — vertical colour stripes for security) and Curves 1 (a colour adjustment layer).
4. Sign — a group (1277×1443 px) with four sublayers (Layer 3, Layer 2, Layer 8 copy 11, Layer 8 copy 10) for the holder's signature.
5. data — a group (1896×2900 px) with editable text fields carrying Cyrillic Photoshop labels: МЕСЯЦ ОКОНЧАНИЯ ("expiry month"), ДЕНЬ/ГОД ОКОНЧАНИЯ ("expiry day/year"), ОРГАН ("issuing authority") and МЕСЯЦ ВЫДАЧИ ("issue month") — plus ten more text fields for name, nationality, passport number and dates.

2013 Redesign — Layer Structure

The 2013 redesign Canada-Passportpsd-Photoshop-Ps-2013.psd (1493×2105 px, RGB 8-bit with 4 channels — the extra channel likely an alpha/transparency mask, 74 MB uncompressed) is the more sophisticated of the two. It contains eight top-level layers:

1. Background — a SmartObject (1493×2105) holding the page background non-destructively.
2. Barcode — a group (84×463 px) with the barcode sublayer at the top of the page.
3. Text — a group (1321×800 px) with two sublayers: MRZ (the two-line Machine Readable Zone in OCR-B) and Text (the remaining text fields).
4. Signature — a group (788×1659 px) with Signature and Signature копия (Russian for "copy").
5. Photo — a group (434×1083 px) with four photo sublayers of different sizes: DublePhoto, asia-man-medium-small, Photo and asia-man-medium-big.
6. Hologram — a group (392×644 px) with галки на фото (Russian for "checks on photo" — the security checkmark overlay) and CANADA (the hologram text overlay).
7. Perforation_Text — a group (89×1502 px) for the perforated text visible only when the page is held to light — a built-in security feature.
8. SerialNumber — a group (449×1237 px) with editable text layers holding sample serials EFR98384 and HK372622, each appearing twice (top and bottom of passport).
